“The city that attracted the Olympics in ’96’ can be a great host for anybody.” This was the presumptuous message that Atlanta sent to the world during the Olympic Games of 1996. The Olympics brought economic growth to Atlanta which now is home to many Fortune 100 companies including Coca-Cola, UPS, CNN, AT&T and Delta Airlines. Furthermore Over 75% of the Fortune 1000 companies have a presence in the Atlanta area.
The vibrant economy, pleasant climate and southern hospitality have attracted thousands of newcomers to this region. This demographic explosion presented us – Romanian Baptists in the metro Atlanta area – with the challenge of taking the “Good News” to the newly formed community of Romanians spread through northeast Atlanta. On May 14, 2000 a group of believers responded to this missionary call and founded the first Romanian Baptist Church in Gwinnett County also known as, Gwinnett Romanian Baptist Church.
